SOUTH POINT — The holiday season is a time of family fellowship and merriment, but for those who have recently lost loved ones it can also be a time of extreme grief.
Slack and Wallace Funeral Home will host its third annual candlelight memorial service to help family and friends deal with recent losses during the holidays
“We want to help people get through the holidays,” said Richard Slack, co-owner of Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. “This can be a time of the year that brings up lots of emotions that make it tough to deal with the loss of a loved one.”
Along with the candlelight memorial a grief counselor will also be on hand to discuss how to best handle the emotional anguish of the first Thanksgiving or Christmas morning without that friend or family member.
“We’ll have a grief counselor there to help walk people through their grief,” Slack said. “It’s just important to help people manage that pain because it is such a tough time of the year if you’re dealing with a loss.”
The service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 and is open to any family who has lost someone in the last year.
Refreshments will also be served to all those that attend. To RSVP or for more information call 740 894-4321.
