Visiting men find many similarities

One of the best places to git a meal isn’t any restaurant but the Knights of Columbus on Friday night.

Now, they serves foot from 5-to-9 p.m. but I happened to go in there a little early and found I wuz only one of three people in the front area. I am from the Ironton area and I didn’t recognize the two men.

The two men were sittin’ apart when one of them staggered over to the other and asked, “How’s it going? Where are you from?”

The other man looked at him and said, “I’m from Ireland. I’m visitin’ the country and some relatives.”

The first man got excited and said, “Really? That’s crazy, lad. I’m from Ireland, too, and I’m visitin’ the country and some relatives. So where in Ireland are you from?”

“Ireland,” answered the second man.

“Faith and begorrah! Me, too! That is awesome. Bartender, another lager fer me and my new friend. Let us drink to Ireland,” said the first man.

The two drank their lagers and the first man asked the second man another question. “So where in Ireland are you from?”

“Dublin.”

“That is amazin’. I’m from Dublin, too,” said the first man. “Another round, please.”

After they drank the lager, the second man asked a question.

“So, where did you go to school?”

The first man said, “I went to St. Patrick’s. Graduated in 1968.”

“This is uncanny,” said the second man. “I graduated from St. Patricks’ in 1968.”

The two men gave each other a hug and ordered yet another lager.

My curiosity finally got to me and I walked over to the bartender.

“Tell, what’s the deal with the two guys sittin’ at the bar?”

The bartender said, “Aw, it’s nothing. The O’Malley twins are drunk again.”

Someone git me a Pepsi, please.

Ennywho, last week I wuz 15-4 to bring the season record to 104-32 fer a .765 percentage. With just three weeks to go, it’s time to git cookin’.

Fairland at Coal Grove: Talk about yer contrastin’ styles. High-powered passin’ vs. a power runnin’ game. Coal Grove 32, Fairland 31.

South Point at Chesapeake: This must be a Xerox game. It’s a carbon copy of the styles in the Fairland-Coal Grove game. This time passin’ wins. I likes them runnin’ teams fer some reason. Chesapeake 26, South Point 23.

River Valley at Rock Hill: the Redmen have been gittin’ closer and closer. And since close ain’t good enough, let’s do like Larry the Cable Guy and Git R Done. Rock Hill 28, River Valley 20.

Ports. Notre Dame at Green: Them Titans ain’t gonna be in a very good mood after last week’s loss to Oak Hill. Notre Dame 38, Green 14.

OTHERS: Wheelersburg over Minford; Portsmouth West over Waverly; Lucasville Valley over Northwest; Jackson over Portsmouth; St. Charles over Kinds; Amanda Clearcreek over Bloom-Carroll; Ashland over Greenup County; Sciotoville East over Bellaire St. John; Russell over Lewis County, Raceland over Fairview; Athens over Vinton County; Gallipolis over Warren; Zanesville over Logan.
