Fredrick Wilds

June 15, 1921-June 3, 2013

Fredrick Anthony Wilds, 91, of Ironton, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born June 15, 1921, the son of the late James and Margaret Barrett Wilds. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara A. Monnig Wilds, who passed away June 16, 2010.

Mr. Wilds was a graduate of Pedro Schools and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former machine operator for the Dayton Malleable Iron Company and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pine Grove. He was a member of the VFW Post 8850.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Wilds;

a daughter, Margaret Bundy; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Otworth and Rose Ann Thompson; and two brothers, James Wilds and Lawrence Wilds.

He is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Carol Wilds, Fredrick C. and Donna Wilds, Paul D. and Pam Wilds, Steve and Teresa Wilds, Patrick J. and Lisa Wilds and Timothy and Sherry Wilds, all of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary A. and John Stewart of Ironton; a son-in-law, George Bundy of Ironton; 25 grandchildren  32 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s of Pine Grove Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s of Pine Grove Church, P.O. John Adkins

John Henry Adkins, 58, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, June 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at his homeplace on Fisher Bowen Branch Road, Wayne, W.Va., Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

Michael Sparks

Michael Lee Sparks, 55, of Ironton, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at his residence. The Ironton native was born March 29, 1958, the son of the late James and Betty Friend Sparks. He was the husband of Patricia Reynolds Sparks, who survives. There will be no services. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Gordon

Betty J. Chillison Gordon, 80, of Ironton, died at home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was the wife of Harold J Gordon, who survives. Arrangements are pending at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
