Gary Ashworth

Gary Edward Ashworth, 58, of Pedro, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 10, 1954, the son of the late William and Betty Webb Ashworth. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dewanna McKnight Ashworth of Pedro.

Gary was a graduate of South Point High School and worked at the family business, Grandview Building and Supply. He was also the former owner of the Arabia Market. He enjoyed painting cars, mechanics, tractors, piddling outside and spending Sundays with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary Matthew Ashworth and Mark Andrew Ashworth and his wife, Kayla, all of Ironton; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Ashworth of Richmond, Ky.; three sisters, Melissa Prentice and her husband, Sheldon of South Point, Susie Carmon and her husband, Clyde of Cincinnati, and Patty Ashworth of South Point; three brothers, Don Ashworth and his wife, Sue of South Point, Ron Ashworth and his wife, Ginger of Winchester, Ky. and Todd Ashworth of Middletown.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with Steve Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lois Marcum

Lois Maxine Marcum, 74, of Coal Grove, courageously became absent from her body to be at home with the Lord, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. The Chauncey, W.Va., native was born Dec. 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Cecil and Rosa Browning. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ermal Marcum, whom she married March 6, 1959.

Maxine was a member of Moore Street Tabernacle. She gave selflessly to all who were fortunate enough to touch her life. She adored sharing each moment of her life with her family and friends, welcoming all with her charming warm hospitality. To know her was to love her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Browning and Walter Browning; and a sister, Betty Jean Browning Thompson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Rita Marcum, Alice and Blaine Woodburn, and Angela and Gregory Bocook, all of Coal Grove; a son, Ermal David and Michelle Marcum of Coal Grove; six granddaughters, Kelli and Eric Christian of Charlotte, N.C., Amanda and John Craven of Nashville, Tenn., Ariel Bocook, David, Lakin and Ragin Marcum; and a grandson, Johnathon Lyons of Charlotte, N.C.; a great grandson: Breaker Jace Christian of Charlotte; two brothers, Virgil and Betty Jo Browning of Wayne, W.Va., Raymond and Jean Browning of Troy; two sisters, Barbara and Tom French of Orlando, Fla. and Carolyn Schilling of Troy.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Pancake officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Darin Dunaway, Steve Hogue, John Schilling, Gary Christian, John Craven, Blaine Woodlburn, Greg Bocook. Betty Brown

Betty F. Brammer Brown, 79, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

Anna Kelly

Anna Mae Kelly, 87, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Aug. 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Harrison and Ruth Bowman Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kelly, who passed away Nov. 28, 2002.

Mrs. Kelly attended Ironton High School and was a housekeeper for the Marting House Hotel. She was a 49-year member of the 10th Street Tabernacle in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jess Martin, Carl Martin, Willard Martin, Marshall Martin and Ralph Martin; five sisters, Roberta Laber, Mary Morgan, Edith Lunsford, Arlene Crance and Catherine Wikoff; and son-in-law, Orren Lloyd Baker.

She is survived by a son, James Larry Kelly and his wife, Nancy of Ironton; a daughter, Linda Baker of Ironton; grandchildren, Kathy Bush, Rachel Faulkner, Al (Cristi) Bush, Kathy Baker, James (Mandy) Baker, Jennifer (Scott) Steele, Amanda (Shawn Wilson) Cron and Kevin Baker; great grandchildren, Caleb Faulkner, Joey Bush, Lauren Bush, Bryan Steele, James Baker, Andrew Baker, Evan Baker, Katie Baker, Allie Baker and Emily Carpenter; brother, John Martin of New York; two sisters, Martha (Paul) Willis of Ironton and Helen (Jerry) Willis of Baton Rouge, La.; and brother-in-law, Earl Kelley of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Chad Pemberton and Pastor John Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Tom Bowen

Tom Bowen, 69, of West Hamlin, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Bowen, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

Laura Ruth (Sally) Jordan, 77 of Amesville, formerly of Ironton, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her home. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.

 

Floyd Doster

Floyd Doster, 72, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was the husband of Tabitha Doster who survives. Arrangements are pending at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point.
