Lady Raiders foul shooting beats Chesy

BIDWELL — The River Valley Lady Raiders used some clutch foul shooting to help beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 56-43 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
River Valley was 18 of 20 from the foul line including 10 of 12 in the fourth quarter.
Jordan Porter scored 18 points and Jackie Nelson 10 points to lead the Lady Panthers (7-3, 0-2).
River Valley snapped a 7-game losing streak as Cady Gilmore scored 19 points including 10 of 10 at the foul line. Shelby Brown and Leia Moore had 10 points each for the Lady Raiders (2-9, 1-2).
Nelson had 6 points and Porter 5 as Chesapeake took a 15-12 first quarter lead.
But River Valley was 6 of 6 from the line in the second quarter and rallied to take a 24-23 halftime lead.
Chesapeake managed just 3 points in the third quarter. Gilmore scored 6 points and the Lady Raiders increased their lead to 37-26.
Gilmore scored 9 points including 6 of 6 from the foul line to offset 11 points by Porter.
Chesapeake plays Athens at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Fairland NAPA Classic.
