Patricia Bevan

Patricia Sue Bevan, 69, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at her residence.

Born April 9, 1943 in Clarksville, she was the daughter of the late Joel James and Emma Lee Mitchem Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by six brothers and sisters.

Patricia was a retired beautician.

She is survived by her husband, Lusher Bevan, whom she married Jan. 17, 1961 in Joliet, Ill.; three children, Robert (Evelyn) Bevan of Palmyra, Tenn., Ronnie Bevan of Clarksville, Tenn., and Traci (Mark) Fields of Patriot, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Ruth (Wm.) Akins of Cunningham, Tenn., Barbara Huff of Clarksville Tenn., and Julia Bond of Clarksville, Tenn.

Funeral was Monday at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio. Burial will follow at a later date at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Mercerville, Tenn. James Hall

James Robert “Bobby” Hall, 53, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Sept. 26, 1958, the son of the late Robert Burnes Hall and Laura Gail Cochran Hall Rowe.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lula Blackburn Hall, who passed away June 4, 2006.

Mr. Hall was a former employee of Arricks Propane for 10 years, retiring in 2009.

He is survived by a son, James Robert Hall II and his wife, Mandy Hall of Ironton; daughter: Carolyn Rose Hall and Aaron of Ironton; four sisters, Tammy and Anthony McKinney of Rush, Ky., Clara and Mark Childers of South Point, Carla Childers and Mark Swed of Ironton, and Tracy Rowe of Ashland, Ky.; five grandchildren; step sons, Paul Martin and Joe Blackburn both of Ironton; step daughter, Sheila Blankenship of Ironton; half brothers, James H. Hall of Cincinnati, Robert B. Hall, Jr. of Marion, half sisters: Levena Fairchild of Ironton and Katrina Collins of Cincinnati; step brothers, Harley Rowe, Clifton Rowe, David Rowe, Jimmy Rowe, and Ronnie Rowe; step sisters, Yvonne Hall, Lillian Harmon and Becky Goin and his girlfriend, Dolly Williams of Ironton.

Edna Smith

Edna F. Smith, 80 of Westerville, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at St. Ann’s Hospital. Born April 6, 1932, in Proctorville, she was a daughter of Virginia and Miller Farley.

She graduated Fairland High School in 1950. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University and Marshall University; Edna began her teaching career at South Point. She continued to earn various degrees in the field of education throughout her career of 26 years. Edna retired from Canton City Schools as special ed. supervisor in 1988 and moved to Florida with her husband Gil that same year.

Edna was a member of Sonshine Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Fla., a regular attendee at the Church of the Messiah, Westerville, where she enjoyed participating in the Teammates class and U.M.W. group. She was also an active member of P.E.O. Chapter ED.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay (David) Simmerman; two granddaughters, Amanda of St. Augustine, Fla., and Natalie (Michael) Ruehrmund and great-grandson Austin of Westerville and a sister-in-law, Minnie Catherine (David) Williams of Perry, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert E. Smith.

Family will receive friends from 1- 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of the Messiah United Methodist on State Street in Westerville. The service will be 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Dorothy McConnell

Dorothy E. McConnell of Kitts Hill, passed away July 16, 2012, at the Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va.

The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 4, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence and Grace Russell. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles L. McConnell and a brother, Joseph K. Russell.

Dorothy worked at Citizens Bank for several years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of South Point, OH.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann (David) Lynd of Kitts Hill; a son, Charles L. (Christy) McConnell Jr. of Moundsville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Laura Lynd (Shawn) Robinson of Garfield Heights, and Kathy Lynd of Sparta, N.C., two step-grandsons; Jonathan Barker McConnell of Moundsville, W.Va., and Stephen James Hummel, also of Moundsville, and a great-grandson, Oliver Lynd Robinson of Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Webb officiating. Burial will follow the service in Woodland Cemetery.
