Patsy Jones

Patsy Ann Pauley Jones, 76, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at Best Care Nursing Center in Wheelersburg.

The Ethel, W.Va., native was born March 25, 1936, the daughter of the late James Ellison and Martha Estep Pauley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William G. Jones. Mrs. Jones attended Hanging Rock Schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of Brookdale Freewill Baptist Church. Bill and Patsy had their own radio broadcast show called “Good News” that aired on Sunday mornings for more than 20 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Albert E. “Berk” Jones; six sisters, Irene Pauley, Helen Crum, Merle Mayhew, Adena Pack, Nina Mullens, and Imogene Willis; and five brothers, Rev. Elden Pauley, Robert Kenneth Pauley, LeRoy Pauley, Ray E. Pauley and Terry Pauley. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert G. and Karen Jones of Franklin Furnace; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Cooper of Marion; and two brothers, Willie Pauley of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rev. Dennis Pauley of Lumberton, Miss.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Kathleen O’Neill

Kathleen O’Neill, 87, of Ironton, died on Sunday July 1, 2012, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born June 8, 1925, the daughter of the late Albert L. and Lillian Hartman O’Neill. She was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church and a graduate of St. Joseph High School and Ashland Business College. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club, the Pioneers of America, and past president of Ironton Business and Professional Women’s Association. She retired from Ohio Bell Telephone after 38 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence J. O’Neill and William D. (Bill) O’Neill. Surviving are one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lee Ann O’Neill, nieces and nephews, Mrs. Mary Ann (Jim) Monte, Larry O’Neill, Chris Monte, Tom Smith and family, Bob Smith and family, Eileen Unger and family and Sister Wanda Scherer, all from Ironton.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church with Father David Huffman and Father John Noe officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. At her request there will be no visitation. Donations are requested to St. Joseph School and St. Lawrence School in her name, 912 S. Fifth St., Ironton, OH 45638. O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Cora Evans

Cora Zelma Evans, 98, of Ironton, passed Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her residence. The Soldier, Ky., native was born Jan. 9, 1914, the daughter of the late John Clark and Sara Hamm Clark. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and member of Sedgewick United Methodist Church. She loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eliga Stearl Evans; daughter, Sandra Lee Fugett; two sons-in-law, Danny Mullins and Ronald Rust; three brothers, Harshel Clark, Harlan Clark, and John Allen Clark; and two sisters, Lillian Estep and Molly Jo Belvins. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Rust and Flora Mullins both of Ironton; grandson and his wife, Brent and Cathy Fugett of South Point; grandson, Brian Fugett of Chesapeake; granddaughter, Angela Mullins of Port Huron; one brother, Harold Clark of Columbus and four sisters, Esther Shay of Ironton, Ruth Bradley of Glasgow, Bess Gerber of Columbus and Mildred Bayes of Walton.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Willard Metz officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Margaret McKee

Margaret Louise McKee, 90, of South Point, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Ernest Neal

Ernest Elwood Neal, 58, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday July 6, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. A memorial service will be conducted at noon Monday at the Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 1616 39th St. in Ashland, Ky. with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Brian Sharp

Brian Sharp, 49, of Pedro, passed away Friday July 6, 2012, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., with his family at his side.

He was born May 11, 1963, in Lawrence County,  a son of the late Bert Sharp and Rowena Russell Blankenship of Pedro. Brian was an auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother he is survived by his stepfather, Pastor Willard Blankenship of Pedro; a son; Brian Lee Sharp of Pedro; two daughters, Sheena Sharp of Waterloo and Kayla Marie Sharp of Pedro; two stepsons, Lowney Dossey of Pedro and  and Paul Huebner of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Shirley “Clyde” Dossey of Pedro; and a half-sister Victoria Blankenship of Huntington, W.Va. Brian also leaves to mourn his passing nine grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Graveside funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Vernon Furnace Cemetery with his stepdad officiating. The funeral procession will leave Brown Funeral Chapel at 1:15 p.m. Friends and family may share condolences and memories on the Facebook page of Brown Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations to help his parents with final expenses should be made to the funeral chapel. The family has entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel.

 

Michael Callicoat

Michael “Mack” Calllicoat, 65, of Proctorville, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at home. He was the husband of Sandra Fuller Callicoat. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home. There will be private family services.

 

James Rogers

James Rogers, 82, of Pedro, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Community Hospice Care Center. He was the husband of Carol Jean Rogers, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
