Green had four errors in a 10-7 loss to Portsmouth early in the season. On Thursday, the Lady Bobcats had five errors in another 10-7 loss to the same Lady Trojans.

“The errors hurt us. Portsmouth made some plays and we didn’t and that was the difference,” said Green coach Dale Royse. “You’ve got to make plays in critical situations.”

Green (7-10) outwhit Portsmouth 17-12. Micah Lewis was 3-5 with three doubles, Sammi Crisp was 3-5, Jenna Crawford 2-5, Erin Imes and Kayla McCallister 3-5 and Krashawna Jones 2-4.

Lacy Benner homered for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth went up 2-0 in the top of the first and Green got three in the bottom half when Lewis doubled, Crisp and Crawford singled, Imes had a two-run double and McCallister and RBI single.

The Trojans went up 5-3 in the third but Green got a run back in the bottom of the inning on McCallister’s double, Jones’ sacrifice and an error.

Portsmouth went up 7-4 in the fourth and Green scored a run in its half of the frame on a double by Lewis and Crisp’s base hit.

The Trojans pushed the lead to 10-5 in the sixth and Green got a run back on singled by Jones and Emma Salisbury.

The Lady Bobcats added a final run in the seventh on a double by Lewis and Crawford’s base hit.
