Probation violations were among the issues addressed Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Rodney Miller Jr., 27, whose last known address was 803 Solida Road, South Point, was arraigned on one count of failure to provide a change of address. Miller is a convicted sex offender and is required to notify the sheriff’s office if he moves.
Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Jeff Smith noted that Miller has had two prior convictions for this same offense, so this time the charge is a third-degree felony. Miller pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Luke Styer.
Bowling set bond at $20,000 cash or surety and added a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to it. Miller must return to court next week for a pretrial conference.
Shannon Putnam, 31, of 207 Township Road 1302, Chesapeake, admitted she violated her probation by failing to go to STAR Community Justice Center as she was ordered to do.
When she pleaded guilty in December 2010 to a theft charge, she was placed on probation and ordered to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at STAR.
Those felons who are ordered to complete a program at STAR or any other community based correctional facility must report to the Lawrence County Jail three days before they are to report to STAR.
They are then transferred from the jail to STAR. Bowling sentenced her to 17 months in prison.
Ronnie France, 33, of 1618 County Road 144, South Point, admitted he violated his probation by failing to take a drug test before leaving the courthouse after a probation visit. Bowling sentenced him to two months in prison.
