PROCTORVILLE — Talk about a team effort.

Eight different players had hits as the Fairland Lady Dragons collected 13 as a team en route to a 16-0 five-inning rout of the New Boston Lady Tigers in their season opener on Tuesday.

“We played 16 girls and we had 13 hits. We only struck out three times and walked twice, so we hit the ball well up and down the lineup,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

Leading the offense was McKenzie Riley who was 2-3 with three runs batted in and Haley Woodall who was 2-2 with two RBI. Caitlin Stone was 2-3, Chandler Fulks 2-2 and Chelsey Stanley and Chloe Stanley were each 1-2 with two RBIs.

Jaimie Phillips and Claire Hinshaw each went 1-2 with an RBI.

Fulks went four innings to get the win. She struck out five, walked none and gave up the lone hit.

Fairland sent 19 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored 14 runs to settle the issue quickly.
