The Lawrence – Scioto Solid Waste Management District is having its 2012 E-waste/Shred Day Saturday, March 31, at the Ironton Hills Shopping Plaza.
The idea is to allow Lawrence County residents an opportunity to dispose of electronic equipment that should not be placed in landfills and to dispose of old documents and personal papers in a secure manner. The E-waste event is new but the solid waste district offered the shred day for the first time last year.
“I was amazed at how well it was received,” Dan Palmer, solid waste district director, said. “So we’re having it again.”
Electronic items accepted include computers, printers, fax machines, scanners, monitors, laptops, copy machines and cellular phones.
There is a limit of 10 boxes of paper per car. Three ring metal binders will not be accepted. There is no need to remove staples from the paper before it is shredded.
The event will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information call the solid waste district at (740) 532-1231.
