One man is in jail, another is hospitalized after a fight early Monday morning.

Ironton Police Detective, Capt. Chris Bowman said Scott A. Jenkins, 30, 1125 S. Seventh St., Ironton, was charged with felonious assault and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Douglas Markin, 58, of Raceland, Ky., was listed in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Bowman said the incident occurred at an apartment at 119 N. Fourth St. Both Markin and Jenkins were at the apartment visiting a mutual friend and began fighting. Bowman said a couple of friends first took Markin to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Emergency room staff there notified Ironton police Markin was being sent to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Bowman declined to say if any weapon was used.

“He has some head trauma,” Bowman said. “This is still under investigation.”
