Lady ’Cats beat Indians for first win

FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Lady Bobcats knew it would come. Wednesday night, it arrived.
After 15 straight losses, the Lady Bobcats won their first game of the season as they beat the Western Pike Lady Indians 35-27 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“We looked real good at times,” said Green coach Bucky Bridges. “We ran our offense well and we played good defense. We’re young but we’re getting better and that’s been our goal.”
Brianna Bridges led the Lady Bobcats (1-15, 1-11) with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Hannah Collett added 9 rebounds and 3 steals while Madison Applegate had 5 assists.
Brittany Reader scored 12 to lead Western (1-14, 1-11).
The Lady Indians took an 11-8 first quarter lead but the Lady Bobcats rallied to take a 17-15 halftime lead.
Western tied the game at23-23 after three quarter but then Brianna Bridges scored 8 points in the fourth quarter as Green outscored the Lady Indians 12-4 to get the win.
Green hosts Portsmouth Clay on Thursday in a league game.
