PROCTORVILLE — What a difference a day makes.

After an unemotional performance on Monday, the Fairland Lady Dragons stepped up their game on Tuesday and easily beat Point Pleasant 63-40 to win their first holiday tournament.

‘We played with better intensity. We played really good defense the first half,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

Terra Stapleton had 21 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocked shots to lead the Lady Dragons who remained unbeaten at 6-0.

Kayla Swiger had 12 points while Chandler Fulks and Katie Fuller handed out 11 assists between them.

Andrea Proter scored 16 and Sarah Hussell for Point Pleasant.

Fairland dominated the boards 46-28. Besides Stapleton, Kelsey Riley grabbed 6 and Mackenzie Riley 5.

“We did a good job rebounding the basketball. Terra always rebounds, but we have other girls who are rebounding the ball well,” said Buchanan.

Fairland took a 10-6 lead in the first quarter as Stapleton matched Point Pleasant’s output.

Stapleton had 6 more points in the second quarter and Fairland built a comfortable 27-10 halftime lead.

The scoring picked up in the third quarter with Hussell scoring all 10 of her points and Porter 8, but Swiger had 7 points and Stapleton 6 and it was 46-30.

In the consolation game, Buffalo-Putnam beat Cross Lanes Christian 46-41.

Named to the all-tournament team were Stapleton, Swiger and Kelsey Riley of Fairland, Porter and Hussell of Point Pleasant, Courtney Kendrick of Cross Lanes and Chelsey Parkins and Ali Burdette of Buffalo.
