Woman injured in robbery

CHESAPEAKE — A Union Township woman was injured Monday after she said a man tried first to grab her handbag and then assaulted her.
The woman was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. for treatment.
The woman told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Newman the incident happened at 6:30 a.m. as she was getting into her car in her driveway on Township Road 1379. The woman said a man approached and attempted to take her handbag.
He demanded her wallet, punched her in the face and grabbed her by the throat. He fled without getting anything from the victim.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. He has brown hair and is clean-shaven. The woman said she thought he was wearing a flannel shirt.
