A Russell, Ky., man escaped serious injury but not a traffic citation after a single vehicle accident just before 8 a.m. Thursday.

Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey said William C. Manifold, 20, was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana.

Travelers on Park Avenue Thursday told police Manifold drove his vehicle out of the Speedway parking lot, crossed two lanes of traffic and landed in the tree lawn in front of the old telephone company building across Park Avenue. Manifold’s vehicle was impounded.
