Think of it as the ultimate haunt for you and your “ghoulfriend.”
Safe Trick or Treat, sponsored by the City of Ironton and Ironton businesses will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Ironton City Center and continue with businesses along Third and adjacent streets. The event continues at 7 p.m. with a parade and optional costume judging by the Ironton Rotary Club and Ironton Lions Club.
The event is planned each year as a safer alternative to going door-to-door asking for candy.
“It’s a good activity,” said Lou Pyles, who helps organize the event each year. “The kids have a good time and I think the adults do as well because the costumes are so cute.”
The parade begins at 7 p.m. at the Center Street fountain and continues down Third Street, turns right at Vernon Street and ends at Second Street.
Costume judging is at Second Street near the Splashpark and the former Austyn’s restaurant. Rotary Club parade committee member Joe Hurley said prizes will be awarded for the best witch, most patriotic, best ghost, most original and the ugliest/scariest.
