Drug cases heard in common pleas court

Two mother-and-son pairs were among several people who answered drug charges Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
The four cases were part of 20 secret indictments announced this week by a Lawrence County Grand Jury. In all, nine people facing drug charges were arraigned Wednesday.
David C. Christian, 35, and Cathy T. Christian, 52, both of 61 Township Road 84 W., Willow Wood were arraigned in front of Judge Charles Cooper. Michael E. Schumann, 25, and Michele R. Schumann, 47, both of 1216 Rear S. Fifth St., Ironton, were also arraigned
David Christian pleaded not guilty to nine counts of drug trafficking and one count of receiving stolen property.
Cooper continued a $50,000 bond from a lower court and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 14.
His mother, Cathy Christian, pleaded not guilty to seven counts of complicity to drug trafficking and three counts of drug trafficking. Cooper set bond at $100,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 7.
Michael Schumann pleaded not guilty to complicity to trafficking and four counts of aggravated drug trafficking. Cooper set bond at $50,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 14. Michelle Schumann pleaded not guilty to complicity to aggravated drug trafficking. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety.
In other cases:
Timothy M. Conwell, 38, of 318 N. Second St., Middleport, pleaded not guilty to second-degree deception to obtain a dangerous drugs and fourth-degree aggravated trafficking in drugs.
Cooper set bond at $100,000 cash and scheduled a pretrial hearing for next week.
Tammy R. Lowe, 39, of 31600 Route 23, Catlettsburg, Ky., pleaded not guilty to aggravated drug trafficking. Cooper set bond at $35,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 7.
Franklin L. Norris, 50, of 1113 S. Fourth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to seven counts of aggravated drug trafficking. Cooper set bond at $100,000 cash, surety or property and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 21.
Jesse Lyons, 19, of 124 Township Road 145, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and complicity to trafficking in drugs.
Cooper set bond at $50,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Sept. 14.
Jackie L. Miller, 49, of 411 Walnut St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to five counts of aggravated drug trafficking and one count of complicity to aggravated drug trafficking.
