Several people were arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Paul McMackin, 51, of 201 Compliment St., Coal Grove, was arraigned on one count of possession of cocaine. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Chris Delawder.
Judge D. Scott Bowling allowed a $5,000 cash or surety bond posted in lower court to be continued and added a $5,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to it.
Delawder had argued for an OR bond only, because the charge is a fifth-degree felony and because his client had appeared in court Wednesday on only a summons.
“He is a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. He doesn’t intend to leave,” Delawder said.
McMackin must return to court July 6 for a pretrial conference.
Hallie Martin, 20, of Ashland, Ky., was arraigned on one count of possession of drugs. She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Gleichauf.
Bowling allowed a $7,500 surety bond posted in a lower court to continue and added a $20,000 OR bond. Bowling also scheduled a pretrial conference for this week.
James M. Sharp, 41, of 10092 State Route 243, South Point, was arraigned on one count of possession of cocaine. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Chris Delawder.
Bowling allowed a $5,000 cash or surety bond posted in lower court to be continued and added a $5,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to it.
Sharp must return to court July 6 for a pretrial conference.
Mindy Henry, 30, of Huntington, W.Va., was arraigned on three counts of theft by deception. She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Davenport. Bowling set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and added a $20,000 OR bond to it.
Henry must return to court June 29 for a pretrial conference.
Justin Wolfe, 23, of Ashland, Ky., preempted further court proceedings when he pleaded guilty at his arraignment to one count of possession of drugs.
Bowling ordered him to complete a program at the STAR Community Justice Center and four years CCS/ISP. Wolfe must also pay a $5,000 fine and forfeit his driving privileges for three years.
