The Ohio Historic Preservation Office is hosting a seminar in Ironton tonight for anyone interested in learning more about resources available for old houses.
The Building Doctor Clinic will be held at 7 p.m. tonight in the Bowman Auditorium of Ohio University Southern.
The seminar will feature methods and building materials that can be used with older houses and buildings, said Ralph Kline, assistant director of the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization, which is co-sponsoring the event.
Besides the CAO, the City of Ironton and the Greater Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce are also sponsoring the event.
The seminar is not limited to those with historical houses or structures.
“If you work in a house that has a claw foot bathtub a lot of times you can get recommendations to seek out those professionals (who have those materials),” Kline said. He added that there may be more resources available than people realize.
The seminar is free and open to the public.
Additionally, the office will be available for consultations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The office plans to meet with 10 property owners in the Ironton area. Eight slots have already been accounted for, Kline said.
