ASHLAND, Ky. – Phyliss Pemberton Steenbergen, 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at her residence. She was born March 18, 1924, in Coal Grove, the daughter of the late Paul and Cecelia Carey Pemberton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Richard “Dick” Pemberton, and three sisters, Jean Diamond, Rose Bloomfield and Donna Wade. Mrs. Steenbergen was a charter member of the Ashland Plaza Church of the Nazarene and a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, E.H. “Bob” Steenbergen; a daughter, Bobbie Jo Taylor and husband Carl of Russell, Ky.; two grandchildren, Kerri Beth Sox and husband Brian of Apopka, Fla., and Bradley Douglas Taylor and wife Kari of Macedonia; as well as two great-grandsons, Braden Taylor and Keaton Taylor of Macedonia.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Campbell and the Rev. Brad Taylor. Entombment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 1 until service time Wednesday.
