CG woman pleads guilty to bank thefts

A Coal Grove woman admitted Wednesday to stealing from bank customers while she worked as a teller.

Amy Ratcliff, 30, of 102 Carlyle St., was charged with theft from an elderly person, a second-degree felony, and theft, a fifth-degree felony.

Both charges stem from Ratcliff stealing money from customers at PNC Bank of Coal Grove while she worked there, Lawrence County Assistant Prosecutor Brigham Anderson said.

Judge Charles Cooper scheduled sentencing in the matter for Wednesday.

In an unrelated case, Jeffrey N. Wallace, 50, of 409 Buckhorn St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to third-degree drug theft. Cooper sentenced Wallace to three years in prison.

In other cases:

Johnnie Perkins, 40, of Toledo, admitted violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions. Cooper sentenced Perkins to two years in prison.

Irene M. Abbott, 27, of 92 Gary Malone St., South Point, pleaded guilty to two counts of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a child, a misdemeanor.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Abbott to four years of community-controlled sanctions, a suspended jail sentence, and ordered her to undergo drug counseling.

Kevin B. Pennington, 21, of 300 Township Road 108, Ironton, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and vandalism.

Cooper sentenced him to one year for each count for a total of two years in prison. Pennington also appeared in Bowling’s courtroom, where he admitted to violating the terms of his community controlled sanctions by committing new crimes.

Bowling sentenced Pennington to one year in prison, which will be served concurrently with the sentence that Cooper imposed.

Tyler S. McAngus, 24, of 517 N. Sixth St., Ironton, admitted violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions by committing new crimes, admitting to using alcohol, failing to pay court costs and being convicted of drug possession.

Bowling sentenced McAngus to 18 months in prison.

Joshua T. White, 31, of 302 N. Seventh St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Bowling continued a $20,000 bond from a lower court and added a $20,000 recognizance bond. A pretrial hearing has been set for March 2.

Alvaro F. Jaime, 26, of 217 Second St., Chesapeake, admitted violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions by failing to report to adult probation. Bowling sentenced Jaime to the relapse program at the STAR community justice program.

Angel M. Wright, 31, of 409 Ninth St., suite 712, Huntington, W.Va., pleaded not guilty to illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility.

Dana Cox, 27, of 2308 S. Ninth Street, Ironton, denied violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions.

Dana Nichols, 32, of 103 Private Drive, Apt. 11, pleaded not guilty to first-degree aggravated trafficking in drugs, second-degree aggravated drug possession, fourth-degree drug trafficking and misdemeanor drug possession.

Cooper continued bond from a lower court and added a $50,000 recognizance bond. A pretrial hearing has been set for March 2.
