The Vikings built a 21-point first quarter lead and never looked back in an 80-52 spanking of the New Boston Tigers Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We got off to a great start. We’ve done a good job of getting ahead of teams we should beat and not putting ourselves in a position late in the game to lose. The kids have done a great job of being ready to play every night,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller.

The Vikings have been ready enough times this season to improve their record to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in the SOC, one-half game behind Green.

Luke Taylor had 16 points, 15 rebounds and six assists to lead the Vikings. Ryan Stanley added 12 points and 11 rebounds while Josh Craft got 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Symmes Valley had 46 rebounds as a team along with 22 assists. Corey Brown aided the win with 10 points, four assists and three steals.

Levi Horsley led New Boston with 29 points with 13 coming in the fourth quarter.

Taylor and Stanley scored six points each and D.J. Miller had five as the Vikings exploded in the first quarter to a 25-4 lead.

Taylor and Craft scored six points each in the second quarter as the Vikings continued to roll as they outscored New Boston 26-14 to build a 51-18 halftime cushion.
