Charles Childers

Charles Russell Childers, 71, of Ironton, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. after a brief illness with his son at his side.
He was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Lawrence County, a son of the late Howard and Louise Mullins Webb. He was a former sanitation engineer for Coal Grove Middle School with over 10 years of service and of the Baptist faith, attending the Leatherwood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charla Brown.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Donna Edens of Huntington, W.Va., two sons: Jared Mitchell Childers of Ironton and Jeffrey Childers of Huntington, W.Va.; four brothers: Richard and his wife Freda of Magnola, Texas, Tom Webb and his wife Dawn of Kanakee, Ill., Kenneth Webb and Robert “Bob” Webb, both of South Point; two sisters: Patricia Blake of Chesapeake and Debbie Hensley of Ashland, Ky. Charles also leaves to mourn his passing one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Chapel, 2427 S. Eleventh St., Ironton, with Pastor Jack Pemberton officiating. V.F.W. Post 8850 will present military honors. Keeping with Charles’ wishes he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered by his children.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations should be made to the funeral chapel to help with final expenses. The family has entrusted his care to Brown Funeral Chapel.
