Clyde J. Asbury, Jr., 79, of Missouri, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at his residence.

The Lawrence County native was born May 24, 1931, the son of the late Clyde and Merle Hysel Asbury. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Daly Asbury.

Mr. Asbury was a graduate of Wilgus High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War, where he received a Bronze Service Star. He was a former roofer for the Fred Christen and Sons Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oregon in Oregon, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Asbury and Steve Asbury; two brothers, William Asbury and Robert Asbury; a half sister, Faye Asbury; and a brother-in-law, Freddie Ross.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Asbury and Michael Asbury both of Ohio; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Susan and Fred Flannery of Dearborn, Mich., Carol Badas of Toledo, Candace and Jackie Kimbler of Campbellsville, Ky., Constance Keller of DeSoto, Mo. and Libby Jane and Aaron Cooper of New Jersey; a sister: Freda Ross of Patriot; a half sister and her spouse, Dorothy and Eddie Cochrane of Kitts Hill; a half brother and his spouse, Donald and Shirley Asbury of Clearwater; 24 grandchildren ; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850.
