Billie Jo “B.J.” Martin

NORTHWOOD — Billie Jo “B.J.” Martin, 80, passed away on Jan. 23, 2011, at the Parkcliffe Care Center in Northwood. She was born on May 13, 1930, in Ironton, to Luda and Herbert Lange.
B.J. graduated as valedictorian from Ironton High School, class of 1948. She went on to become a dedicated nurse retiring from St. Luke’s Hospital after 27 years of faithful service. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, knitting, cats, and antiques.
She is survived by her loving children, Lynn (John) Ufer of Beulah, Mich., Dr. Amy Martin of Denver Colo., and Blaine (Susan) Martin of Millbury; grandchildren, Robert and Edward Ufer, Thomas, Alison and Andrew Martin; and great-grandchildren Valerie Ufer, Colin and Nolan Martin. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joy Lee Willis.
B.J.’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the wonderful caretakers and staff at Parkcliffe Community and Heartland Hospice for the excellent care that she received.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, Ironton. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Section C. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
