An Ironton business has moved across the river. The Ironton Papa John’s Pizza, which was formerly on Park Avenue, has moved to Flatwoods, Ky.
Sunday was the last day of business for the Ironton location. The staff moved Monday and opened in Flatwoods Tuesday.
Lynn Rice, president of Super Quik Inc., which owns the restaurant, said the move was made so the corporation could fulfill a lease in Flatwoods.
The corporation moved its office from 1200 Bellefonte Road, Flatwoods, to the Bellefonte Pavilion, Ashland. With the office gone, the restaurant was moved into the space at 1200 Bellefonte Road, where the office was. The lease was up at its Ironton location.
Besides the Papa John’s, the corporation also has a Subway, Super Quik and a Mr. Klean Laundromat at the Bellefonte Road location.
“We hated to leave Ironton but we were still obligated to pay the lease so we had to have something there,” Rice said.
In all, the corporation owns the Papa John’s, six Subways, 15 Super Quik gas and convenience stores, a Mr. Klean Laundromat and a car wash.
The corporation has owned the Papa John’s location since 2001 or 2002, though Rice said the business had probably been at its Ironton location for 15 years or longer.
“We just got opened Tuesday,” Rice said. “Wednesday was a great day but we just got moved and it will take a while for people to know where we are.”
