Man gets four years for sex offense

A Chesapeake man will serve four years in prison for gross sexual imposition.
James C. Thompson, 33, of 204 Rockwood Drive, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to the third-degree felony last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. Wednesday, Judge Charles Cooper sentenced him to four years in prison and ordered that he register as a tier 2 sex offender for the next 25 years.
Thompson’s victim was a 9-year-old girl.
Also in court Wednesday, Jonathan S. Black, 21, of 603 N. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to felonious assault.
Black attempted to stab someone with a knife, Assistant Prosecutor Brigham Anderson said.
Black told the court the incident was an accident.
Cooper ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for next week.
In other cases:
Amanda Thomas, 28, of 603 N. Fifth St., Ironton, admitted violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions by failing to report to adult probation as well as testing positive and admitting to using drugs. Bowling sentenced Thomas to four years in prison with credit for the 140 days she served at the STAR community justice program.
Barry Adkins Jr., 25, of 71 Township Road 168, South Point, pleaded guilty to a three-count bill of information that included fifth-degree theft, fifth-degree theft by deception, and fourth-degree grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Adkins to four years of community-controlled sanctions and ordered him to successfully complete the STAR community justice program.
Teddy Moore, 48, of 27, of Township Road 1025, South Point, denied violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions. Bowling set a bond of $25,000 and scheduled a CCS trial for Feb. 9.
Danny Estep, 59, of 2214 N. Fifth St., Ironton, denied violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions. Bowling set a CCS trial for Jan. 26.
Stephanie Mobley, 23, of 1029 Township Road 309, Chesapeake, denied violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions. Bowling set a CCS trial for Jan. 26.
Arthur Jenkins Jr., 34, of Logan, W.Va., pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. Bowling set bond at $2,000 cash and $2,500 on his own recognizance and set a pretrial for next week.
