LATHAM — The Green Bobcats’ follow-up visit to the basketball court went quite well.
Coming off a win two weeks ago against Minford, the Bobcats went back to work Tuesday and cruised past the Western Indians 70-37 in a Southern Ohio Conference Div. I game.
Green (4-2, 3-0) had one of its better shooting performances by making 30 of 57 shots for 52 percent including 6 of 12 from 3-point range.
“I was happy we followed up with a big win over Minford before the break and came back and got an SOC win on the road,” said Green coach Bobby Blanton.
“We played pretty well overall. We came out and put them away early. We kept our turnovers under 10 and we shot the ball extremely well.’
T.J. McCloud had 18 points and nine rebounds to pace the Bobcats. Pat Pierce had 15 points and four assists while Tyler Hughes added nine points, four rebounds and four steals.
Colton Lightle led Western with 10 points.
McCloud and Pierce combined for 11points in the first quarter as Green jumped out to a 21-5 lead.
McCloud scored eight more in the second quarter as the Bobcats pulled away to 38-15 halftime cushion.
Hughes, Pierce and Tyler Crace all hit 3-pointers in the third quarter as Green opened up an insurmountable 57-22 lead.
“We told them at halftime they still had to run their plays and execute and stay focused,” said Blanton.
Clay Applegate scored six points and Rob Applegate five in the fourth quarter as the backups finished the game.
