Law enforcement reports an otherwise quiet holiday
A 32-year-old man was injured in a four-wheeler accident over the New Years holiday. Lt. Mike Gore of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. Saturday on State Route 140 in Lawrence County.
James W. Wolford, of Oak Hill was traveling west when he drove off the right side of the road and his vehicle, Gore said. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the accident, Gore said. Wolford, who was the only person on the vehicle, was not wearing a helmet.
Wolford was taken to Holzer Hospital and later to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Elsewhere in the county, law enforcement officials reported a quiet weekend.
Chief Jim Carey of the Ironton Police Department said there were no major incidents besides a few altercations at bars.
Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless also reported that there were only minor incidents and no drunken driving arrests.
“Everything went well,” Lawless said.
