A South Point man was sentenced Wednesday to 8 months in prison for forgery and theft from an elderly person.
Benjamin Layne, 31, of 4104 County Road 15, South Point, pleaded guilty to the charges in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Layne to eight months in prison and stipulated that his sentence is to run concurrently with a sentence he is facing in West Virginia.
In other cases:
Sabrina Holley, 27, of 25 Private Drive 2125 County Road 144, South Point, was resentenced to 11 months in prison for fifth-degree theft.
Judge Charles Cooper had previously sentenced Holley to successfully complete the STAR community justice program but the program has not accepted her.
Cooper said the program likely did not accept her because of a prescription drug she is taking.
Erin Campbell, 28, of 226 Tenth Ave., Huntington, W.Va., pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs. Bowling granted Campbell an intervention in lieu of conviction.
Campbell will undergo drug treatment for at least a year and if she does so successfully, her charges will be dropped, Bowling said.
Arnold Berry, 46, of 109 Private Drive 2404, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty to aggravated drug possession and surrender and cancellation of certificate title. Bowling set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 12.
