A husband and wife who allegedly held up a Burlington business last month pleaded not guilty in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.

Jeremy and Kimberly McCann, 29 and 28 respectively, of 8029 County Road 107 Lot 4E, Proctorville, are each charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of kidnapping and one count of tampering with evidence.

The couple allegedly held up First American Cash Advance with a BB gun. The incident took place Nov. 11. The kidnapping charges stem from the victims in the case being restrained while the store was held up.

Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $250,000 cash for each of the McCanns. A pretrial hearing has been set for Dec. 15.

In an unrelated case, Sharon Ray, 36, of 3690 State Route 93, Ironton, pleaded guilty to patient abuse and neglect, theft of drugs, forgery, tampering with evidence and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Ray to a total of four years in prison for the charges. She was also ordered to pay court costs.

In other cases:

Keturah L. Adkins, 28, of 68 Private Drive 9622 Apt. 12, Proctorville, admitted violating the terms of her community- controlled sanctions by failing to pay restitution and testing positive for drugs.

Bowling sentenced her to 30 months in prison.

David Jackson, 30, of 230 Rock Ave., Ironton, was sentenced to four years of community-controlled sanctions for aggravated trafficking in drugs. Jackson had previously pleaded guilty to the charge in Bowling’s courtroom.

As part of a negotiated plea agreement, Jackson will testify against Tina White, of 244 Delaware St., Ironton, who faces charges of aggravated drug trafficking and complicity to aggravated drug trafficking.

Cooper granted a motion to revoke bond for Nicholas C. Sycks, 24, of 3466 County Road 181, Ironton.

Sycks, who faces failure to appear and escape charges, did not show up last week for his trial and a bench warrant was issued for him.

Christina Edwards Banks, 27, of 311 Lorraine St., Apt. 1, Ironton, admitted violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions. Cooper sentenced Banks to six months in prison with credit for time served.
