Coal Grove drained six 3-point goals but Day scored 16 of her 23 points in the second half as the Fairview Lady Eagles rallied for 47-44 win Monday.

“We shot the 3-point basket well to give us a chance to stay in the game,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Rick Roach. “It was a hard-fought game the entire game and it was fun to watch.”

Ashley Adkins scored 18 points to lead the Lady Hornets (1-1). Hope Ratcliff added 10 points.

“Adkins picked up three fouls early, but she played smart the rest of the game and was able to adjust and score some needed points for us,” said Roach.

Coal Grove led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter and 23-17 at the half.

Fairview closed to within 33-30 after three quarters and outscored the Lady Hornets 17-11 in the fourth quarter.
