Man gets 4 years for sex offenses

Victim identified as 9-year-old girl

A South Point man will serve four years in prison for sex offenses.

Charles Rucker, 58, of 362 Township Road 1026, pleaded no contest in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Rucker’s victim was a 9-year-old girl, whose private parts he fondled and also took pictures of, Assistant Prosecutor Mack Anderson said.

Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Rucker to four years for the pandering count and 17 months for the gross sexual imposition.

The sentences will be concurrent to each other, for a total of four years. Rucker will also be required to register as a tier-two sex offender for the next 25 years.

Also in court Wednesday, Tyler Napier, 19, of 2009 County Road 31, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree theft.

Cooper sentenced Napier to 11 months in prison.

In other cases:

> Jessica Young, 28, of 104 Private Drive 3, Apt. 6, Chesapeake, was sentenced four years of community-controlled sanctions and ordered to successfully complete the STAR Community Justice Program. Young had previously pleaded guilty in Judge Scott Bowling’s courtroom to felony theft. Bowling also ruled that Young had violated the terms of her bond by testing positive for drugs and not reporting to adult probation. Young will go to jail until time for her to report to STAR on Jan. 26.

> Brian Williams, 31, of 318 Monroe St., Apt. 3, Ironton, denied violating the terms of his community-controlled sanctions.

A pretrial CCS hearing has been set for Dec. 11. His bond has been revoked.

> Charles M. Brown, 24, of 309 1/2 Lane St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to one count of fifth degree theft.

Judge Cooper sentenced Brown to four years of community-controlled sanctions and ordered him to complete a program at the SEPTA correctional facility.

> Keturah L. Adkins, 28, of 68 Private Drive 9622 Apt. 12, Proctorville, denied violating the terms of her community-controlled sanctions. Judge Bowling set a CCS trial for Dec. 1.

>Victor Bradshaw, 47, of 2120 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of drugs.

Bradshaw’s attorney, Mike Gleichauf, showed Bowling a prescription that Bradshaw had been given for the drugs. Bond has been set at $20,000 on his own recognizance and a pretrial is scheduled for Dec. 29.

> Jeremy Logsdon, 28, of 717 ½ Ashtabula St., Ironton, was sentenced to five days in jail for a CCS violation.

Logsdon failed to meet the requirements of his CCS because he didn’t pay for his GPS monitoring.
