Outreach ministries asking for help in helping others

CALDWELL — On Sept 16, more than 700 families in southern Ohio were impacted by 11 tornadoes that ripped through the state, removing 108 homes from their foundations.
With the help of Outreach Ministries, a program of Lutheran Social Services of Southern Ohio (LSS), the recovery process has started, but these families still need help in order to have a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
That is why Outreach Ministries is asking for support to help with the purchase of Christmas toys and items needed for daily living, as well as financial support for the pick up and delivery of these items to the families who need them most. “While we can arrange for the pick up of any items donated, it helps us out immensely if people can stop by our Caldwell distribution center and drop them off in person,” added David Cater, assistant director of Outreach Ministries.
“Donations collected locally are used locally. A donation could help a friend or neighbor in need, and that is why we are also asking churches, businesses and any other organizations to consider donating items in support of our Heavenly Treasures gift shop.” All monies donated will go directly to programs and support to help the families affected by the storms, and Cater insists that every little bit helps. “If all of us could give just a little, or donate a few quality items to our gift shop, we could make a difference in the lives of some of our closest neighbors.”
If you would like to help or have any questions, please call 740-732-6700, or stop by the Outreach Ministries distribution center located at 810 Main Street in Caldwell.
Donations are also being accepted at the Vinton County distribution center located at 31860 Claypool Hollow Rd. in McArthur, Ohio.
If you would like to make a monetary donation through the mail, please send your check to Lutheran Social Services Development Department, 500 W. Wilson Bridge Rd. Ste. 245, Worthington, OH, 43085.
