Thomas Jefferson “Coffee Cup” Gibson, 66, of Ironton, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at his home. The Wurtland, Ky., native was born Aug. 15, 1944, the son of the late Acy B. and Birdie Mae Heaberlin Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Verna Louise Anson Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was a graduate of Wurtland High School and was a self-employed carpenter and former employee at Tri-State Vault Company. He attended Sheridan Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Gibson; and a sister, Clarie Gibson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tonya Gibson of Cincinnati; daughter and son-in-law, Sara Mae and Scott Henry of Middlesburg, Fla.; son, Mark Gibson of Ironton; son, Jeff Gibson of Ashland; daughter, Joyce Gibson of Boyd County, Ky.; three brothers, Acy Gibson of Greenup, Ky., Jim Gibson of St. Albans, W.Va. and Russ Gibson of Apple Creek; sister, Deloris Long of Toledo; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Three Mile Cemetery in W-Hollow, Greenup with Rev. Acy Gibson officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
