Ironton’s newest CVS store will open today.

The new store replaces the CVS located at 518 S. Third St., which will close Saturday.

The new 13,250-square foot structure at the corner of Jefferson and Third streets is approximately 3,000-square feet larger than the previous location. It will also have a drive-thru pharmacy window, something the old CVS does not have.

The store is located in the location of the former Tipton’s Bakery. CVS bought the building in March from RAC II, Ltd.

The construction project started in mid March with asbestos abatement of the building, which was later demolished.
