Free breast exams Friday at Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center will host its annual clinical breast exam event Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Women are invited to take part in this free breast cancer screening by having a free clinical exam performed by local physicians and breast specialists. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, please call (304) 526-2440 or (304) 526-2271.

West Virginia residents may be eligible to receive a free screening mammogram provided by the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are several events remaining to honor and memorialize women impacted by breast cancer:

Oct. 24 – Walk for Women at Ritter Park. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk begins at 2 p.m. Please call (304) 399-6690 for more information.

Oct. 25 – Look Good…Feel Better. This program from 5 to 7 p.m. is a non-medical, brand-neutral public service program that teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.

Oct. 29 – Memorial balloon release at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center at 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Good Samaritan Fund at the cancer center.
