PEDRO — This one was quite a battle.
Chesapeake battled past the Rock Hill Redwomen in a five-set Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match Tuesday, 24-26, 25-8, 25-19, 15-25, and 15-10 in the tiebreaker.
“It was a war,” said Chesapeake coach Dana Edwards. “All the girls played hard for both teams. Rock Hill has really improved since the first time we played them.
“Sarah Rice was all over the place. Ashley Miller, Caitlin Heffner and Amanda Ruffner all did a great job for us.”
Heffner had 14 points including six aces in the second set win, but Rock Hill tied the match in the fourth set as Morgan Damron had 18 points.
In the tiebreaker, Miller had two key ace serves and Ruffner finished the entire game with 15 kills and 18 blocks.
In the reserve match, Rock Hill won 25-18, 25-20 as Brooke Knipp had 9 points including three aces, Lindy Simpson scored 8 points and Breanna Kelly had 7 points with three aces.
Chesapeake (7-8) plays at Coal Grove Thursday in an OVC match.
