Chesapeake wins duel match with South Point

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.— The final tune-up ran smoothly for the Chesapeake Panthers.
In a final duel match before the Ohio Valley Conference golf tournament, the Panthers turned in a solid performance as they beat league foe South Point at Sugarwood Golf Course.
The Panthers had a 159 team score while the Pointers finished with a 209 total.
Nick Duffield took medalist honors with a 35 for the Panthers. Seth Waggoner was next with a 38 followed by Roger Hoback with a 42 and Andrew Saunders had a 44.
Drew Oxley was one shot back at 45 and Nathan Copley posted a 48.
Callie Taylor topped the Pointers with a 45 and Caleb Jones carded a 51. Josh Suttles shot a 56 and Austin Wellman had a 57.
Sean Gambill came in at 62 and Jordan Lynd 71.
The OVC golf tournament will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Shawnee Golf Course.
