For years Ironton has had a passion for football, and not just the men. The women love it, too.
The women will take it to another level as the Ironton High School girls will play the first-ever Powder Puff football game at 6 p.m. Thursday on the practice field as part of this week’s homecoming activities.
Principal Joe Rowe — a former Ironton football player — will coach one team comprised of the seniors and freshmen while superintendent Dean Nance will handle the coaching duties for the team of juniors and sophomores.
The student council fundraiser headed by president Pierce Reeves will have a $3 admission for adults and $2 for students.
Ironton hosts Gallipolis Friday in the annual homecoming game with the queen crowned during the pre-game.
A dance will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday in the high school cafeteria.
