VIRGINIA GROVE POHLMAN

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Virginia Roach Grove Pohlman, 84, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in Statesboro, Ga.
She was born in Ironton, on March 8, 1926. Mrs. Pohlman was the daughter of the late Herschel and Althea Roach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Helen Roach Taylor, Juanita Roach Haynes and Ruth Alice Roach Frische, as well as her husbands, Philip Edward Grove and Ernest G. Pohlman, and a son, Philip Michael Grove.
Mrs. Pohlman retired from Wachovia Bank as assistant vice president of loans. She formerly worked with First Federal Savings and Loan and Great Southern Federal Savings and Loan. Before moving to Savannah she had worked with Ohio Bell.
The longtime Savannah resident was a member of Skidaway Island Baptist Church and had recently resided in Statesboro.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Donna Grove of Beckley, W.Va., Harley and Jo Ann Grove of Odum, Ga. and Mark Grove of Chillicothe; her stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jeaneen Pohlman of South Point; six grandchildren, Michael Dustin and Kathy Grove of Savannah, Donna and Eric Darow of Pooler, Ga., Kristin and Brian Haynes of Pooler, Roger Cole and Lynn Grove of Beckley, W.Va., Jodie and Jerry Williams of Waycross, Ga., and Harley Ryan Grove of Charlottesville, Va.; several great-grandchildren and several nieces.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Abbey West on Dean Forest Road, with Dr. Jim Staubes officiating.
