Ohio Valley Sprint Car invades RTR Friday

COAL GROVE —The stars and cars of the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) will invade Rocky Top Raceway on Friday for the running of the “Summer Sizzler” paying the 410 Sprint Cars $3,000 to win.
The race is one of the biggest Sprint Car races in southern Ohio and one of the highest paying shows on the OVSCA 2010 tour.
Some of the drivers in the top 20 in OVSCA points expected to be in attendance include former K-C Raceway track champions Jimmy Stinson, Jim Neir, and Keith Baxter along with RTR track record holder Cole Duncan, Australian driver Trevor Green, second place points runner Kory Crabtree, Dave Dickson of the famous Dickson racing family, rookie Sprint Car sensation Andre Layfield, legendary driver Charlie Fisher, and former Skyline Late Model track champ Greg Mitchell among many others.
The “Summer Sizzler” will be the 21st race on the 2010 OVSCA tour. There have been nine different winners thus far in the tour’s previous 20 races.
Danny Smith is the winningest driver on the tour with five wins while Nier and Stinson both have four wins. Chillicothe’s Baxter has two wins with one win each for Duncan, Greg Wilson, Josh Davis, Fisher, and Andre Layfield.
In addition to the high speed, high thrills action of the OVSCA 410 Sprint Cars, fans in attendance will also get to see a $1,000 to win Steel Block Late Model special.
This will be one of the largest Steel Block Late Model shows in southern Ohio. “Racin” Jason Perry took the feature win in previous Steel Block Late Model action at RTR on July 16. Bombers and Mod Lites will also be in action.
General admission to the “Summer Sizzler” is $15 with kids (ages 7-12) general admission $2, kids six and under free, and all pit passes $30.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with drivers meeting at 7, Sprint Car engine warm-ups at 7:15, and hot laps at 7:30.
