JASON SHIMER

ASHLAND Ky. — Jason Todd Shimer, 32, of Ashland, died Friday July 30, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. Jason was born on July 23, 1978, in Ashland, Ky., the son of Michael E. and Sharon Kaye Bibb Shimer of Ashland.
He was a 1996 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and Collins Career Center. He also attended ACTC and UK. He was a paramedic and was on the National Registry of Paramedics that covered several states. He was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland.
Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Madison and Stella Chapman Bibb, and his paternal grandmother Louise Robinette Shimer.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, a Benjamin “Hayden” Shimer and Phillip “Drew” Shimer of Ashland; a twin brother, Justin Michael and his wife, Amy Jo Shimer and niece Haley Elizabeth Shimer, all of Ashland; an uncle, Robert W. Shimer of Lexington, and grandfather, Wilson B. Shimer of Ashland whom he cherished and loved very much, also a host of extended family and friends, including very special neighbors.
Jason will always be known for his bright smile, a great personality and the ability to brighten the lives of everyone he met. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Funeral services for Jason will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Clifton Salyers. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at Lazear Funeral ome. The family requests donations for an education fund for his two sons. Donations can be sent to Michael E.
