BB’s Car Club will kick off of its 2010 season with the May “cruz-in” from 4 until 9 p.m. this Saturday at the Kyova Mall in Ashland, Ky. Admission is free.
Registration is $5 per vehicle and begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Anyone is welcome to register a vehicle.
“If it’s got four wheels, or two wheels, or even more than four wheels, you can register,” said Jim Hayner, marketing director for BB’s Car Club.
Hayner said the cruz-in will have racecars, street rods, antiques, new Camaros and Challengers. He said they have also had fire trucks, tractors and even bicycles.
“We’re open to anybody and everybody,” Hayner said.
While the number varies with the weather, there is an average of 350 cars registered during a cruz-in.
The cruz-ins were previously put on in South Point’s Kmart plaza, but when Kmart closed down they had to relocate.
Now with the Kyova Mall, Hayner said this is the largest mall cruz-in in the state of Kentucky.
Chrissy Dillow, general manager of the Kyova Mall, is happy to have the cruz-in at the mall.
“We appreciate it,” Dillow said. “They’re all great people. Bring your kids and don’t worry about anything. They do a great job.”
Dillow said the cruz-in attracts a great crowd because it’s so family-friendly and helps to bring people to the mall.
Hayner said they will have door prizes up for grabs, and toys for every child in attendance.
DVDs of the cruz-ins are recorded and sold, but Hayner said the club will send free DVDs to any servicemen and women they get addresses for.
