Sewer project continues this week in Ironton

Despite losing a day last week, crews continue to work on Ironton’s sewer system. Rain and flooding early last week meant work stopped on Monday, but continued for the rest of the week.
The project had been behind due to severe weather in the winter months.
“We are actually catching up,” said Doug Cade, of E.L. Robinson Engineering. “We’re still behind but we’re making progress.”
The scheduled completion day for the sewer-relining project is Oct. 1.
This week crews will be doing manhole rehabilitation at Ironton Hills Mall and sewer cleaning on an alley on Third Street. They will also be lining the sewer at several locations in the city.
Cade warned drivers to pay attention to “Road Closed” signs. Last week a few drivers were given traffic tickets for driving through closed streets, he said.
