Richard Allen Kidd, 62, of South Point, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his residence.
The Huntington, W. Va. native was born June 5, 1947, the son of the late Ervin Davis and Rosemary Taylor Kidd.
Mr. Kidd attended Ironton High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He received his medical badge, sharpshooting badge (rifle), national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam campaign medal and parachute badge while serving in the Army. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes.
He is survived by his companion, Brinda Fields of South Point; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Shellie and Bryan Workman of South Point, Sherry and Phillip Dillon and Crystal Fields, all of Chesapeake; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Robin Kidd of Greenup, Ky. and Giles and Shirley Ellis of Coal Grove; a sister, Carolyn Stapleton of Ironton; a nephew and his wife, Larry and Michelle Kidd of Greenup; many other nieces and nephews; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be American Legion Post 16. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
