IRONTON — Area school children have one more activity option for the dog days of summer.
Kids under the age of 18 can bowl two free games each day at Spare Time Recreation in Ironton during the summer.
“The kids are starving for something to do and this will give them an opportunity to come in out of the heat and bowl a couple of games,” said Jeff Dillow, owner of Spare Time Recreation, said.
This is Spare Time’s first year participating in the Kids Bowl Free program. The program has more than 750 participating bowling centers in 45 states.
“I talked to a lot of my fellow bowling proprietors that have done it and it has been a real good program that helps promote bowling and it drives a lot of traffic,” Dillow said.
To register their children, parents can go to www.kidsbowlfree.com/ sparetimeOH. After they register, they will receive certificates to play two free games each day during certain hours. A family pass option is also available. Shoe rentals and concessions are not included.
“I hope to get kids more interested in bowling,” Dillow said. “I always say that bowling is an activity that you can do all your life.”
