IRONTON — Crews in Ironton will continue work on the sewer system this week. The majority of the work to be done this week involves sewer relining in various parts in the city.
As of Monday, workers were lining the sewer on First Street between Pine Street and Mastin Avenue as well as the Ironton area of State Route 141, Doug Cade of E.L. Robinson Engineering, said.
The sewer in alleys on Third, Fourth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth and Heplar streets will also be relined this week. Other sites include Liberty Avenue, Woodlawn Drive, and First Street. Residents with plumbing problems should experience an odor related to the relining. The odor can be reduced by pouring water into the lowest drain of the home or business and by placing a damp towel over the opening as well as opening windows to allow the smell to dissipate.
Manhole rehabilitation will be done in North Ironton between Ellison Street and Orchard Street. Sewer cleaning will be done in South Ironton between Mastin Avenue and Lorain Street. Drivers are asked to slow down while traveling through construction zones.
