IRONTON — Work on Ironton’s sewer system will continue this week. Residents should expect to encounter workers rehabilitating manholes in North Ironton between Ellison Avenue and Orchard Street.
Workers will be cleaning the sewer in North Ironton between Sycamore Street and Union Street and in South Ironton between Mastin Avenue and Lorain Street as well as relining the sewer in various parts of the city.
“We just finished a big section and we’ll be putting in another big section,” Doug Cade, of E.L. Robinson engineering said. “It’s progressing well.”
Cade again this week cautioned residents to drive slowly through construction zones.
“We just don’t want anyone to get hurt,” Cade said.
In the areas where sewer-relining work is being done, residents and businesses may notice an odor. If people notice the odor inside the business or residence, it probably means there are problems with a sewer trap that’s allowing the odor to come inside the structure. Pouring water into the lowest drain of the structure and opening windows can help dissipate.
